SUMMARY:OER Under the Hood: An Open Pedagogy Approach to AI Literacy
DESCRIPTION:In this next session of the OER Under the Hood webinar series in partnership with Pressbooks\, we’re heading to the UK to spotlight how the University of Leeds is embedding openness and collaboration into the heart of teaching and learning. \n\n\n\nTo best inform our practices of integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence into education\, what is a better source than the stories of how students themselves are using these technologies? Our featured project\, Learning with AI\, is an open collection of case studies contributed by University students from around the world. This project was edited by University of Leeds students and supported by a team of staff collaborators. It explores how students use generative AI as a learning partner and displays how open pedagogy empowers diverse voices to shape the curriculum itself. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a conversation with a professor in creative and open education\, an OER librarian\, and two students who contributed to this dynamic\, student-centered project. \n\n\n\nRecording Now Available\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning with AI was designed as a “living book” and remains open for contributions from students worldwide until June 1\, 2028. Since opening its call for contributions it has received submissions from 28 students across multiple levels of study and disciplines. Their reflections reveal how students are using AI as a learning partner: to clarify complex topics\, engage in dialogic learning\, support creativity\, enhance accessibility\, and build confidence.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Local: November 19 at 3:15pm GMT\n\n\n\nYour Time: Nov 19\, 2025 10\n\n\n\nZoneStamp: convert to your local time\n\n\n\nWatch in Zoom: register to attend\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore: \n\n\n\n\nWhat’s next for this evolving project and open practices at the University of Leeds\n\n\n\nHow open educational practices and student collaboration shaped Learning with AI\n\n\n\nPractical ways to integrate OER and open practices into curriculum design\n\n\n\nWhy students chose to share their reflections in an open format\, and how the experience shaped their understanding of openness and authorship\n\n\n\nThe process and impact of building a truly “living” open resource with contributions from around the world\n\n\n\n\nGuests\n\n\n\n\nChrissi Nerantzi\, Professor in Creative and Open Education\n\nChrissi Nerantzi is a Professor of Creative and Open Education at the University of Leeds\, founder of #creativeHE\, and an award-winning educator advancing collaborative\, inclusive\, and open professional development\, creativity\, and transformative learning in higher education.\n\n\n\n\n\nAlexandra Poradowska\, post graduate student in digital education\n\nAlexandra Poradowska is a language professional and a second-year postgraduate student of the MA in Digital Education at the University of Leeds.  Alexandra is passionate about the potential benefits of artificial intelligence in foreign language teaching and learning. \n\n\n\n\n\nRuchira Parchur\, post graduate student in leadership\n\nRuchira Parchur is a professional coach and change agility leader who specialises in helping organisations grow and evolve.
