SUMMARY:Tuesday Demos Live: AI Declaration Statement from Kwantlen Polytechnic University
DESCRIPTION:Learn all about it\, and try it out yourself! The AI Declaration Statement is a template that was developed at OEGlobal member Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). Their template is woven into a Pressbooks Template offered to KPU faculty as a starting step for creating an OER AI Declaration Statement. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Tuesday\, March 17 at 10:00am – 11:30am PDT (check for local time)\n\n\n\nWhere: Register to attend via Zoom\n\n\n\nRecording: Now available https://youtu.be/fbgALYrRMrc\n\n\n\nDiscuss: in OEG Connect\n\n\n\n\nAmanda Grey from KPU will share how and why the template was developed\, including it being remixed from Kari Weaver’s The Artificial Intelligence Disclosure (AID) Framework and the Me and My Machine Labels developed at Fontys University of Applied Science. \n\n\n\nAmanda shared the template last November in OEGlobal Connect\, and she and Karen Meijer (KPU) presented it this week as a lightning talk for the Open Education Talks series. \n\n\n\nThis is not just talking over slides! Amanda and Karen will lead us through a guided practice of creating your own statement. So come with an OER you’ve developed with GenAI assistance\, and leave with your own AI Declaration Statement to add to it. \n\n\n\nWe will also see some techniques KPU is trialing to have GenAI draft the statement and learn about ideas they have to make a version that is interactive. \n\n\n\nThis is also the first/premiere of our new series of Tuesday Demo Live sessions (hosted by OEGlobal). At the Tuesday Demo Live session OEGlobal Members are invited to both talk about and show off their open education-related projects and resources. To accommodate global schedules\, these will take place at various times on future Tuesdays. \n\n\n\nThis is also offered in conjunction with Open Education Week\, which does not stop after one week! \n\n\n\nLinks Mentioned\n\n\n\n\nKPU AI Declaration Statement https://kpu.pressbooks.pub/booktemplate/front-matter/ai-declaration-statement/\n\nPart of KPU Pressbooks Template https://kpu.pressbooks.pub/booktemplate/\n\n\n\nAI Use Self-Assessment Rubric [DOCX] https://kpu.pressbooks.pub/app/uploads/sites/263/2026/03/AI-Use-Rubric-for-OER-Creation.docx\n\n\n\nAmanda shared AI Declaration Statement in OEG Connect https://connect.oeglobal.org/t/ai-declaration-statement/8313\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Artificial Intelligence Disclosure (AID) Framework by Kari D. SUMMARY:Open Exchange: Preparing for the ADA Title II Accessibility Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Join CCCOER’s Open Exchange\, an informal\, discussion-focused webinar series designed for peer-to-peer dialogue. Each session revolves around a single question or topic shared in advance\, giving participants time to reflect and come prepared to engage. SUMMARY:OER Under the Hood: An Open Pedagogy Approach to AI Literacy
DESCRIPTION:In this next session of the OER Under the Hood webinar series in partnership with Pressbooks\, we’re heading to the UK to spotlight how the University of Leeds is embedding openness and collaboration into the heart of teaching and learning. \n\n\n\nTo best inform our practices of integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence into education\, what is a better source than the stories of how students themselves are using these technologies? Our featured project\, Learning with AI\, is an open collection of case studies contributed by University students from around the world. This project was edited by University of Leeds students and supported by a team of staff collaborators. It explores how students use generative AI as a learning partner and displays how open pedagogy empowers diverse voices to shape the curriculum itself. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a conversation with a professor in creative and open education\, an OER librarian\, and two students who contributed to this dynamic\, student-centered project. \n\n\n\nRecording Now Available\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning with AI was designed as a “living book” and remains open for contributions from students worldwide until June 1\, 2028. Since opening its call for contributions it has received submissions from 28 students across multiple levels of study and disciplines. Their reflections reveal how students are using AI as a learning partner: to clarify complex topics\, engage in dialogic learning\, support creativity\, enhance accessibility\, and build confidence.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Local: November 19 at 3:15pm GMT\n\n\n\nYour Time: Nov 19\, 2025 10\n\n\n\nZoneStamp: convert to your local time\n\n\n\nWatch in Zoom: register to attend\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore: \n\n\n\n\nWhat’s next for this evolving project and open practices at the University of Leeds\n\n\n\nHow open educational practices and student collaboration shaped Learning with AI\n\n\n\nPractical ways to integrate OER and open practices into curriculum design\n\n\n\nWhy students chose to share their reflections in an open format\, and how the experience shaped their understanding of openness and authorship\n\n\n\nThe process and impact of building a truly “living” open resource with contributions from around the world\n\n\n\n\nGuests\n\n\n\n\nChrissi Nerantzi\, Professor in Creative and Open Education\n\nChrissi Nerantzi is a Professor of Creative and Open Education at the University of Leeds\, founder of #creativeHE\, and an award-winning educator advancing collaborative\, inclusive\, and open professional development\, creativity\, and transformative learning in higher education.\n\n\n\n\n\nAlexandra Poradowska\, post graduate student in digital education\n\nAlexandra Poradowska is a language professional and a second-year postgraduate student of the MA in Digital Education at the University of Leeds.  Alexandra is passionate about the potential benefits of artificial intelligence in foreign language teaching and learning. \n\n\n\n\n\nRuchira Parchur\, post graduate student in leadership\n\nRuchira Parchur is a professional coach and change agility leader who specialises in helping organisations grow and evolve. SUMMARY:Demo Wednesdays Live: Delmar Larsen with the Open-Source ADAPT Homework System
DESCRIPTION:One limiting factor in large-scale adoption of OER is the absence of comparable free or low-cost homework platforms to complement existing and developing OER textbooks. This live demonstration will let you see first hand how LibreTexts is aiming to remove this barrier by building and expanding the open-source ADAPT homework system – a central component of the “LibreVerse” ecosystem of courseware technologies – to supplant existing for-profit commercial systems. \n\n\n\nLibreTexts ADAPT https://adapt.libretexts.org/\n\n\n\nADAPT (https://adapt.libretexts.org/) is designed as a centralized OER question bank (>150 k questions) that combines adaptive learning incorporating learning trees with culturally responsive pedagogy for advanced use. We will demonstrate how instructors can use ADAPT to augment existing and newly constructed OER textbooks with summative exercises and embed them in LMSs\, LibreTexts textbooks\, in a standalone web application\, and in-class clickers. Learn how ADAPT empowers faculty to build and use existing questions in multiple modalities. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a live ADAPT demo by Delmar Larsen: \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 30\, 2024 11:00 pm UTC / World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch (live or see recording later): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IADAdnb1KI4\n\n\n\n\nThis is one of the OEGlobal 2024 Pre/Un Conference events Oct 28 – Nov 1.

SUMMARY:Two Open Education Conferences Meet in a Café: What Do They Talk About?
DESCRIPTION:A place for a casual conversation about open education conferences\n\n\n\nWithin weeks this year are two long-running open education events: the Open Education Conference (October 8-10\, Providence\, USA\, and hybrid/online) and the Open Education Global Conference (November 13-15\, Brisbane\, Australia\, and online AND conference approach). \n\n\n\nThis conversation includes representatives from the planners of each conference many of whom are participants in both events. What unfolds in an open conversation includes highlights\, outcomes and hopes for their conferences\, facilitate greater cross-pollination\, encouraging on going community interaction\, and navigating the challenges and successes of delivering a conference in alternative formats/modalities for educators unable to attend in person. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we explore what the future conference season might look like. What are their plans for the next round of their open education conferences? And we want to hear from participants in both conferences about their experiences. Tune in to see where this open conversation about where and how open education conferences might evolve next. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 30\, 2024 12:00 am UTC / World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch (live or see recording later): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6iZhILByCw\n\n\n\nListen (audio stream): Conference of the Air (on DS106radio)\n\n\n\n\nThis is one of the OEGlobal 2024 Pre/Un Conference events Oct 28 – Nov 1. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImage Credit: Cafe Table at Ocho Restaurant flickr photo by nan palmero shared under a Creative Commons (BY) license modified to include logos from the respective conferences at the table.

SUMMARY:In the OEG Voices Podcast Studio with Frontiers for Young Minds
DESCRIPTION:In this live session we welcome representatives from Frontiers for Young Minds\, a platform where young students peer review papers by top scientists to publish openly licensed articles that share science research in an approachable format for all ages. Frontiers for Young Minds was recognized with a 2024 Open Education Awards as a Significant Impact OER. We look to learn more how this inspiring and definitely significant publishing process works from people who are part of it. \n\n\n\nThis is a recording session we are doing for a future episode of the OEGlobal Voices Podcast. We are opening up the recording studio to anyone interested in listening in live to our conversation. Consider it a preview for a published podcast\, and also a means for you to add your questions and comments to the conversation. \n\n\n\nThis is one of several online events Open Education Global is offering the week of October 28\, 2024 as a Pre/Un conference style series in advance of the OEGlobal 2024 conference Nov 13-15 in Brisbane\, Australia. The Frontiers for Young Minds team had hoped to be there\, but like many\, they were not able travel to Australia. As an OE Award winning project\, this seemed like an ideal offering for all interested under the conference theme of “Open is Everybody’s Business”\, the AND Conference concept\, and to be offer a means to share and participate from afar. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 28\, 2024 02:00 pm UTC / World Time Clock\n\n\n\nJoin: Register any time\n\n\n\nListen (later): We will share a preview recording of the podcast

SUMMARY:Demos Wednesday Live: H5P in Big Blue Button
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a first of an OEGlobal new live webcast series\, Demos Wednesday Live. Each episode will feature a live demo\, no presentation slides\, of a technology\, an Open Education Resource\, a project web site. The idea is to demonstrate something in action and have a live conversation with the people behind it. \n\n\n\nIn today’s demonstration we welcome Fred Dixon\, co-founder of BigBlueButton the open source virtual classroom software with built-in tools for active learning and live analytics to ensure every student learns. \n\n\n\n\nOpen sourced\, pedagogically driven\, and supported by a world-wide community that cares about teaching and learning\, BigBlueButton is built-into the core of Canvas\, Moodle\, and Schoology as their default virtual classroom.   \n\n\n\n\nA few months ago\, Fred shared with us of how another great open source tool\, H5P\, is being incorporated into BigBlueButton\, which you can see a bit of here: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this Demo Wednesday Live\, Fred will show us their progress and welcome feedback from the OEGlobal community. And just to make it more interesting\, we will see this directly in BigBlueButton. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 09\, 2024 03:00 pm UTC • World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch: Join us live in BigBlueButton (recording now available)\n\n\n\nDiscuss: Join the conversation in OEG Connect
