SUMMARY:Conference of the Air Goes on the Air (DS106 Radio)
DESCRIPTION:In this premiere of the Conference of the Air concept to broadcast portions of the Nov 13-15 OEGlobal 2024 Conference Alan Levine is bringing to studio our colleagues from Reclaim Hosting\, who manage the DS106 internet radio station — Jim Groom\, Maren Deepwell\, and Taylor Jardin. \n\n\n\nLike old fashioned radio\, there is always something on the air. \n\n\n\nWhat is DS106 Radio? What is a conference via internet radio like? Our guests have done it before! Learn about the summer camp Reclaim Hosting offered earlier this year. We will talk about the technology that enables the radio\, how to listen\, what wild ideas Alan has to broadcast not only the sounds from the conference in Brisbane Australia\, but from what is contributed from around the world. How can you be part? We will unveil our AND Pre/Unconference week which includes a few live and programmed sessions. \n\n\n\nListen to this session live on the radio! \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 29\, 2024 04:00 pm UTC / World Time Clock\n\n\n\nListen (live): DS106 Radio\n\n\n\nListen (later): Recording will be posted!

SUMMARY:In the OEG Voices Podcast Studio with Frontiers for Young Minds
DESCRIPTION:In this live session we welcome representatives from Frontiers for Young Minds\, a platform where young students peer review papers by top scientists to publish openly licensed articles that share science research in an approachable format for all ages. Frontiers for Young Minds was recognized with a 2024 Open Education Awards as a Significant Impact OER. We look to learn more how this inspiring and definitely significant publishing process works from people who are part of it. \n\n\n\nThis is a recording session we are doing for a future episode of the OEGlobal Voices Podcast. We are opening up the recording studio to anyone interested in listening in live to our conversation. Consider it a preview for a published podcast\, and also a means for you to add your questions and comments to the conversation. \n\n\n\nThis is one of several online events Open Education Global is offering the week of October 28\, 2024 as a Pre/Un conference style series in advance of the OEGlobal 2024 conference Nov 13-15 in Brisbane\, Australia. The Frontiers for Young Minds team had hoped to be there\, but like many\, they were not able travel to Australia. As an OE Award winning project\, this seemed like an ideal offering for all interested under the conference theme of “Open is Everybody’s Business”\, the AND Conference concept\, and to be offer a means to share and participate from afar. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 28\, 2024 02:00 pm UTC / World Time Clock\n\n\n\nJoin: Register any time\n\n\n\nListen (later): We will share a preview recording of the podcast

SUMMARY:Demo Wednesdays Live: Quick Start to Markdown Publishing: Using Docsify-This  with GitHub and Codeberg Files
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another live webcast demo! Paul Hibbitts will show and then guide us through a hands on experience using Docsify-This. An open tool for instantly turning online markdown files into web pages\, Docsify-This lowers the barriers to Markdown open publishing. By providing a low-barrier\, flexible\, and open-source solution\, Docsify-This significantly increases the ability of educators and publishers to create\, manage\, and share open educational content. \n\n\n\nNote that Docsify-This was a shortlisted finalist for the 2024 Open Education Awards for Excellence in the Open Infrastructure category. Paul has demonstrated a wide range of uses\, including his own teaching. \n\n\n\n\nDocsify-This provides an easy way to display and share Markdown content in various contexts\, with no website setup or build process required. Collaborative authoring using GitHub or Codeberg is also supported. \nLearn more: What problem does Docsify-This solve?\n\n\n\nWe are pleased to offer this Demo Wednesdays Live as part of International Open Access Week. It is now listed on the official OAWeek events calendar. \n\n\n\nWhen and Where\n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 23\, 2024 06:00 pm UTC • World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch (live on YouTube or see recording after): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQKniYvXS90

SUMMARY:California’s Big Bet on ZTCs (CCCOER Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, California made the largest public investment in history in OER and Zero Textbook Cost degrees with a $115M grant program. Beginning in 2022\, all California Community Colleges received funds to develop and implement ZTC pathways. As of 2024\, colleges are developing hundreds of ZTC pathways to transform the student experience in the country’s largest system of higher education. What constitutes a ZTC pathway in California? How do 116 colleges prevent duplication of effort? What professional development is provided? In this session\, hear from someone who is supporting colleges in this historic work. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 16\, 2024 07:00 pm UTC World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch: Register now

SUMMARY:Demos Wednesday Live: H5P in Big Blue Button
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a first of an OEGlobal new live webcast series\, Demos Wednesday Live. Each episode will feature a live demo\, no presentation slides\, of a technology\, an Open Education Resource\, a project web site. And just to make it more interesting\, we will see this directly in BigBlueButton. \n\n\n\n\nWhen: Oct 09\, 2024 03:00 pm UTC • World Time Clock\n\n\n\nWatch: Join us live in BigBlueButton (recording now available)\n\n\n\nDiscuss: Join the conversation in OEG Connect
