From 15–17 September 2025, Marcela Morales and Igor Lesko, Co-Executive Directors at Open Education Global (OEGlobal), visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts (MA), USA, for a series of planning meetings and site visits with representatives from MIT Open Learning and the Massachusetts Open & Low-Cost Educational Resources (OLER) Advisory Council.
The visit focused on preparations for the OEGlobal 2026 Conference (conference.oeglobal.org/2026), which OEGlobal, MA OLER Advisory Council, and MIT Open Learning will co-host.

Taking place 7–9 October 2026 in a hybrid format (in-person and online), OEGlobal 2026 Conference will bring together practitioners, policy builders, advocates, researchers, students, and decision-makers to share practices, network, and explore the future of Open Education — discussing emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the field.

In addition to the conference planning meetings and site visits, Marcela and Igor also shared updates on OEGlobal’s ongoing activities during presentations to MIT Open Learning teams and meetings with senior leadership at MIT, strengthening connections and fostering collaboration between OEGlobal and MIT’s vibrant open learning and education community.
Exciting collaborations are ahead as we work together to make the 2026 OEGlobal Conference a dynamic and impactful event for the global open education community!
