Anadolu University

Anadolu University is a state university located in Eskisehir, Türkiye. The Eskisehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founded in 1958, formed the basis of Anadolu University. The Academy was replaced by Anadolu University in 1982, which has gained a well-deserved place as a modern, dynamic, and innovative institution among the largest universities not only in Türkiye, but also in the world. The University campus houses 12 faculties (undergraduate level), 3 applied schools, 2 vocational schools (associate level), 6 graduate schools (institutes), and 30 research centers.

The Open Education System (OES) at Anadolu University was established in the 1982-1983 academic year as the first initiative offering open and distance education in Türkiye. As a result, for the last 40 years, Anadolu University, which had been established as a conventional university in 1958, has been transformed into an open and distance learning university with its 3,700,000 graduates so far. As of today, about 1,000,000 active students are registered at Anadolu University’s OES programs. The OES delivers higher education in Türkiye and more than 30 countries around the world, providing equal opportunity in higher education for all individuals that do not have access to campus-based higher education, including prison inmates as well as individuals with physical, hearing, and visual impairment. Besides the OES, Anadolu University offers Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) through its Akadema portal.
