DjangoCon Africa 2025 brought the Django community to Arusha, Tanzania (11–15 August), with main-stage talks at Life Fitness Hall and hands-on workshops and sprints hosted at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha. Co-located with UbuCon Africa, the five-day gathering mixed engineering, open collaboration, and a culture of sharing across communities.

OEGlobal’s Director of Technology, Jan Gondol, contributed on two fronts. He delivered “The Django Whisperer: Talking to LLMs Like a Pro,” a session on treating large language models as structured collaborators (“Working with LLMs is like mentoring a brilliant but easily distracted intern.”, and so it’s helpful to start externalizing the thinking, so that the LLM can understand the context better). Later, he co-led the “Django for AI” workshop with Thibaud Colas, the President of the Django Software Foundation.

The week also sparked conversations about AI within the Django ecosystem. Shortly after the event, Thibaud Colas proposed creating an AI team within the Django Software Foundation to coordinate community learning and guidance around AI.
