Heather Blicher

Heather is a passionate advocate for access, equity, and collaboration in education, and believes in the transformative power of community. She sees Open Education as a catalyst for innovation and connection. As Director of the Community College Consortium for OER (CCCOER), her priority is to advance Open Education at community and technical colleges across North America by building community among members and supporting practitioners in leading the next phase of Open Education innovation. She actively contributes to global initiatives, including Open Education Week, the OEGlobal Conference, and the OE Awards that connect and amplify efforts worldwide. With 20+ years of experience in public service and higher education, she holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science, is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies, and was nationally recognized with the Distance Learning Librarianship Award from the Association of College & Research Libraries.

Outside of work, Heather is a wildlife and animal advocate who believes that fostering community and fostering animals aren’t all that different—both require patience and treats.
