Igor Lesko is Co-Executive Director of Open Education Global (https://www.oeglobal.org/), an international nonprofit organization
promoting and mainstreaming open education worldwide. Originally from Slovakia and based in South Africa since 2003, he has over 16 years of experience working with international and national organizations on strategies to expand access to knowledge and information. He has also worked on numerous education projects (national and international) as a researcher, evaluator and coordinator.
He holds an MA degree (Cum Laude) in Social Development (University of the Western Cape, South Africa) and an MA degree in Development
Management (Ruhr University, Germany), and earned his PhD from the Open University of the Netherlands. His doctoral research examined the role of international organizations in shaping governmental Open Educational Resources (OER) policies (2002–2019), including
policymakers’ perceptions of their effectiveness, and developed recommendations for widening access to educational resources and

Serving as Co-Executive Director at Open Education Global (OEGlobal), he helps lead global initiatives, partnerships, conferences, and community engagement that support inclusive and equitable access to education worldwide.
