Over the past months, Open Education Global (OEGlobal) invited our global community to share perspectives on how you would like to participate in the OEGlobal 2026 Conference.
We sincerely appreciate the valuable input received. Your feedback informed discussions with the OEGlobal Board of Directors and Staff and helped guide our decision-making.
Conference Format
Based on community input and the OEGlobal Board of Directors’ decision, we confirm that the OEGlobal26 Conference will be held in a hybrid format and will include limited support for community-driven in-person gatherings connected to the core conference program. Please see below for more information.
For the OEGlobal 2026 Conference, Hybrid Participation includes:
- An in-person gathering at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
- Online participation options that support both synchronous and asynchronous global engagement.
Community Gatherings Around the World
Community feedback highlighted a strong interest in local, in-person engagement alongside participation in the global conference. We welcome community-led gatherings designed to reflect local contexts, languages, and priorities.
Examples may include:
- Watch parties for keynotes or featured sessions
- Regional meetups hosted by member institutions
- Local gatherings aligned with the conference themes
- Multilingual discussion circles engaging with online sessions
While OEGlobal will not formally co-organize or host these gatherings, we welcome these initiatives and will amplify information about them where appropriate. Guidance on sharing your plans with OEGlobal will be available soon.
This overall approach helps widen participation while retaining the relational value of in-person gatherings. It also acknowledges and celebrates the organizations whose contributions were instrumental in establishing and advancing the Open Education movement. Whether you plan to attend in Cambridge, participate online, or host a local gathering around the conference programming, we look forward to working with you to make the OEGlobal 2026 Conference meaningful, engaging, and impactful.
