Dr. Ta-Wei Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied
Chemistry at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan, and
a consultant to the Taiwan Open Course and Education Consortium (TOCEC).
He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of
Rochester in 1994.
Since joining National Chiao Tung University (NCTU, which became NYCU in
2021) in 2006, Ta-Wei has developed Open Educational Resources for
general chemistry, including two OCW courses and three MOOCs. In 2023,
he served as editor of 《化學實驗（一）（二）》– Chemistry Laboratory
Manuals 1 & 2, the first Chinese-language open textbook developed for
general chemistry laboratory instruction.
Ta-Wei served as Director of the Office of Open Education at NCTU in 2014
and as Chair of TOCEC from 2017 to 2021. From 2019 to 2021, he led the
project “Promoting and Collecting Reviews of Open Textbooks in Taiwan.”
Between 2019 and 2026, he also delivered approximately 20 presentations at
universities across Taiwan to promote awareness and adoption of open
textbooks.
