Annotating the UNESCO Recommendation on OER

The community on OEG Connect invites the world to annotate the text of the UNESCO Recommendation on OER, in any of the six languages it is published. 5 separate annotation events act as a bridge between the September 2021 OEGlobal Online conference with the May 2022 in-person Congress in Nantes, France.

The Annotation Events aim to engage the global open education community to become more familiar with the Recommendation and to enrich it by annotating notes on the specific wording that are used to describe and define each of the five action areas.

Open web annotation provides educators and open enthusiasts with an opportunity to enrich the Recommendation by placing their open education practice, research, and experience within the words that make up the Recommendation. This enriched text will also allow educators and policymakers to learn from the efforts of others. The resulting annotations supplement the UNESCO OER Recommendation with practical advice from the field, adding valuable lessons learned and insights, plus commentary that addresses regional contexts and application specifics.

The annotation events take place using a Pressbooks version of the Recommendation where the Hypothes.is tools are automatically enabled.
